Vembu BDR Suite v4.0

Data protection and Data availability to any business organization were difficult in the past.
Now, the scenario is entirely different they are many backup vendors who strive hard to bring
availability of data to any business with ease. I have been using Vembu BDR Suite for nearly a
year for my Virtual machines backup; I am quite really impressed with their product and the UI
which is very user-friendly.

Vembu BDR Suite, the flagship offering from Vembu provides comprehensive Backup and
Disaster Recovery solution for different IT Environments that include physical (Windows, Linux
& Mac) and virtual (VMware & Hyper- V) as well as the cloud applications (Office 365 &
G-Suite).

Vembu recently tweeted about its major release Vembu BDR Suite v4.0 and I was quite
impressed with the features and enhancements they are bringing to this release. Now, I am going
to jot down some of the significant features and enhancements shared by Vembu.

Hyper-V Failover Cluster Backup
Primarily the support for backup of Hyper-V Failover Cluster is announced in v4.0. Even if the
VMs that are backed up moves from one host to another, the backup still takes place without any
interruptions.

CheckSum based incremental
Vembu uses CBT for tracking up changes since the previous backup. For CBT failure cases,
Vembu now introduces Checksum based incremental backups.

Credentials Manager
Vembu now reduces hectic work of entering the credentials of the Host and the guest machines
each time when you are using the BDR Suite.

Hyper-V Live recovery
Vembu previously used the shared path of the targeted host for recovering the backups of
Hyper-V VM. With the release of BDR Suite v4.0, a separate agent is pushed to the target
machine for performing full VM recovery.

Imagebased Backup Reconnect
In the previous version, where any failure incurred during Image-based backup, there was no
option for reconnecting, with V4.0 it is possible now to connect from where it left off.

Quick VM recovery report
With the release of V4.0, when Quick VM Recovery is done, detailed reports for that recovery
including the job name, recovery point, start and end time will be available.

App-Aware Processing for Hyper-V Virtual Machines
With the new release, Application-aware can be enabled for Hyper-V Backup on per VM basis.
Additionally, there is feature tantamount with application-aware processing between VMware
vSphere and Hyper-V.

To conclude, Vembu has quite impressed me with their release announcement and I am looking
forward to the release. Moreover, they told me that there are some more enhancements along
with the release. To know more about the release and to keep up with their updates, check out
